What Stays, What Changes

Not just a roof.
A part of the landscape.

We knew from the beginning
that we wanted a green roof.

So the house could belong —
without standing out.

It took a while to find the right way.

In the end,
we chose pre-grown trays —
already filled with plants and substrate.

Not because it was perfect.
But because it was the simplest way forward.

The biggest question wasn’t the roof.

It was how to get everything up there.

Each tray doesn’t look like much —
but one weighs around 20 kg.

And there were many of them.

Piece by piece,
we moved them up.

Carefully.
Slowly.

And hoping
we counted right.

For the edges,
we used river stones.

Simple.
Heavy.
Natural

Nothing is really maintenance free.
Not here.

Just enough
to let it be what it is.

In summer,
it keeps the heat away.

In winter,
it holds it inside.

And over time —
it changes.

Colors shift.
Sometimes it blooms.

Sometimes it disappears.

And that was the point.

If this stayed with you,
