One photo. One story.
I almost missed this photograph.
We grow calendula in our garden every summer, then harvest and dry it for the herbal teas we drink throughout the winter..
This one was only a few days away from the calendula harvest.
One evening, just before sunset, I went outside with my camera. The light was soft, the sun was dropping behind the garden, and for a moment it lined up perfectly with the flower.
I took the picture without thinking too much about it.
A few days later, the calendula was harvested and drying for winter.
Looking at the photograph now, I like that I caught it when I did — not because it was the perfect flower, or the perfect sunset, but because it was one of those very brief moments between growing and gathering.
One last evening in the garden, before summer was packed away for winter.
